42 - 55: the last weeks of February

wow! February flew by, and the days have moved into March so quickly. each month passes into the next with gaining momentum, it seems. the past couple of weeks have been bountiful with friends and love. extra effort has been made to get out of the regular stagnant routine by opening our lives to more - more time with the ones we love, more time dedicated to that which we find nurturing, more live music, more..., and in the experimental process discovering there IS room for more, if we choose it. baby steps.... :)

images from this past weekend's assisting workshop at BFree Yoga with Erika. 3 days of learning, love, and expanding into the light.

the only shot that turned out from this set - the rest were clouded over with the body generated steam we worked up in the room! love the halo effect created by Iva's flash - like her light shining out from within! :)

29 - 41: the first weeks of February

I am in Love with Love and Love is in love with me.
My body is in Love with the soul and
the soul is in Love with my body.
I opened my arms to Love and
Love embraced me like a lover.

half of February 2011 has come and gone in the blink of an eye.  there was the fortune of spending quality time with two cherished friends (with some very exciting news!), putt-putt golfing and red velvet cake for Ashton's birthday, leisurely park walking, Uchiko deliciousness and wonderful company for my birthday (32 - woohoo!), and a most memorable valentine's day Willie Nelson show at the new ACL Moody Theater (which is awesome, btw) with my more than wonderful husband. i got a new camera for my birthday (Canon 550D) that i am stoked about learning how to use effectively!  lovelovelove

one month down

january 2011 came and went, and i am more or less satisfied with how i've kept up the picture taking.  sure, i missed a day here and there, but i would say, overall, month one was a success.  things i've learned:

1. check your camera settings! (doh!)
2. take at least one picture before lunch time comes
3. anything can be a photo subject, so open your eyes and get creative
4. photo editing - learn it!
5. a daily goal really makes you aware of the passing of time (this life's short!)

last photo for january:

photos 24 - 27

this past weekend was really nice.  quality time spent with my honey on friday evening (date night!), Jette's 4th birthday celebration on saturday, and a productive sunday of errands and goal tracking.  a friend remarked on saturday that motherhood has created a shift in perspective within her understanding of the personal motives of humans in general.  that shift being the realization that people are not selfishly looking out for only their own interests, as she once thought, but they are actually all interested in and motivated by maintaining the well being of their children.  ie: the world is not as self-centered as it may seem.  i am not articulating it as nicely as she did, but it was a beautiful sentiment that will not be forgotten.
ps - you might notice jan 28 is missing....  oops!
{27} 1.30.11

it was a busy day, and the only shot i took was through the car window while running errands.  oh well....

{26} 1.29.11

Jette had his 4th birthday party this weekend! spiderman theme... awesome!  it was really a lot of fun catching up with all our friends with kiddos - seeing how much the little ones have grown and changed is always amazing.  we've know Jette from the start, and love him to pieces.  just look at how intently he is staring at his spiderman cake!  the poor quality/graininess of the photo is my fault, as i forgot to check my settings and took this at ISO 1600 (doh!).  also, white balance might have been (ok, it definitely was) set at some weird indoor light setting, hence the slightly weird blue/green tint to the pic below.  so unnecessary - boo.  lesson learned... always check your settings!

mr. Price - this one's for you.

@ 22 and 23

last night i taught yoga and a whopping six people showed up to practice!  now, six may not seem like many to most, but at the North Park Y it is a big number indeed.  five returning regulars, and one sweet new lady.  it felt good to feel the energy in the room, and teaching was the easiest and most natural it has ever been.  love....

{23} 01.25.11

brrrrrrr!  it's been cold in the morning over the past few weeks.  there was ice on my windshield this morning, so while i waited for it to defrost, i snapped a few pics of frosty kale in the garden.  the sun was just starting to peek  over the treeline - so lovely!  if you shop/eat at Wheatsville, Daily Juice, Casa de Luz, etc..., you might have enjoyed kale from PSF courtesy of Resolution Gardens.  nice!

{22} 01.24.11

the sky was particularly pretty on this Monday morning, with every shade of blue imaginable.  i tried to get a decent photo to share, but it just didn't turn out as i had hoped.  (and they are the only pics i took today!)  oh well - i played around a bit with the photo editor, and this is what i settled on. Manor Road, 7:45 am.

at dinner with A & W at Tree House Italian Grill.  no wait on an Friday night makes it a winner in my book!  add good food and wonderful company, and you've got a recipe for good times!  this is point and case on why i would like (i held off on using the word NEED!) a new camera.  awful results in dim lighting at 1600 iso.  *sigh*

they need tickets.... i think there was a UT basketball game happening downtown.  i snapped these two fellas while waiting in traffic on my way to yoga practice at Castle Hill.

i think it might be time to share this site - even though i am pretty sure it is a bit of a snore, and no one, aside from maybe my mom, dad and grandma, will be much interested in my amateur photos and ramblings of daily life.

it turns out snapping a quick photo as i head out the door in the mornings is a great way to make sure i am not stuck inside at 10:30 pm taking pics of Arlo's paw or nail polish bottles!  so here you have two morning shots taken in the front yard of PSF (Pecan Springs Farm for those who don't know!)

off the wagon... and back on again

oops!  i already fell off the wagon....  dang.

Tyson and i made our way to Dallas this past weekend to hang out with our parents and exchange Christmas presents with my folks, and wouldn't ya know..., i didn't take a single picture while we were there!  oops!  well, in my slack off time, i enjoyed late night talks with my parents and slept in late Saturday and Sunday.  Saturday evening the two family halves joined together to share a meal at Macaroni Grill in Lewisville.  scoff if you must, my foodie friends, but Macaroni Grill has some delish herb foccacia bread, and build your own pasta bowls.  i love "build your own" menus, cause, for a vegetarian, i can be awfully picky about what i eat!

i am now back ON the wagon!

here are the photos left over from last week.

this is what happens when you are not mindful and decide to run down concrete steps.  ouch!  slow it down, sister!

pearls of love

i arrived home on Friday afternoon to discover a suspicious package in the mail from an unknown address.  seriously - for some reason i was totally weirded out that i didn't know the address, even though it was from northern Virginia (where most of my family lives), which should have been a BIG clue as to who it came from.  anyhow - so i finally cut through the package to find my cutie niece and nephew staring back at me from their yearly photo session (love!), and a sweet little gold box with the necklace pictured below inside. it's a single pearl knotted on a leather rope: simple and laid back.  love it!  all us cousins have one from our Aunt Pam.  nice.  thank you, Pam!! i'll keep it forever. xo
